Updates coming - I *swear*! (July 4, 2009)

Hi all: Just another quickie note from the parking lot of a bagel shop in Charlottesville, VA. I made it through the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway - all 467.1 miles of mountainous roads! ...and all I got was this lousy t-shirt. Heading *towards* Washington DC, but I don't think I'll quite go into it. I'll stay on the outskirts, and then continue north to my sister Julie's home in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Hope you all have a nice 4th of July, eat lots of hot dogs and hamburgers, and see some fireworks! I'll try to do the same. ;-Don

Hi Don,

don't panic! We all have plenty of reading left waiting for the next ride...
Personally I think it's awesome to cycle round the US. Many dream of it, some try it without blogging, some do with and some of 'em all give up ... I better make a straight beeline for my desk and do some Dilbert exercise.

Let me know when you get to your sister's in the DC burbs, where I am also located. Would be great to meet you and see your trike. I've added a link to your blog on my blog.

Hi Marc (Ghost): Never (panic)! I checked your GPS coordinates, and it's somewhere in central Europe - is that right?

Hi greatpumpkin: What's your blog? I'm in the DC area, now, but won't be for long. Email me if you want to meet at: donsaito@comcast.net.

Hi Julie: I'm in the Washington DC area, now (Mon Jul 6), and should be to your place within the next 4-5 days(!) How's them apples? L ;~Don

Don:

Keep up the blogging. Deborah and I were thinking of you last week when we were on the "Big Island" of Hawai'i and took a tour of the telescopes on Mauna Kea -- cool in lots of ways at almost 14,000 ft.!! Great sunset and great stars (if diminished by the almost full moon.) I did get to see the Southern Cross (neat for us Aussies!). The tour had 11" Celestron reflectors for star gazing so we saw the binaries in alpha centauri and cygnus plus a couple of globular clusters, as well as the rings and moons of Saturn (pretty damn cool!)

Gotta renew at Chabot and take the tour of the skies!!!

Take care on the roads and "keep on truckin'"

Keep on blogging. Have you counted the number of ChocoMalts you have consumed?

Thought of you on our July 4 stay on Hawai'i on our tour of Mauna Kea. Very cool (in philosophical and climatic terms) at 14,000 ft.!!

Gotta renew at Chabot and check out the Oakland skies!

ALOHA

Hi Don,

yes, it's somehow Central Europe. Thx for checking the given lead, the cood's. I really appreciate that!

I've been to Key West (including the correct bike path in Key Largo!) by normal bike in 2004 paying hell for official camping. Just for not being picked up by the good guys. I really envy you on doing the trip the way you dare it.

Since then I actively read more on US cycling, just to forget about the perfect infrastructure we have over here :-9

Can not help you proceeding on this trip, just following up close online.

Hi Bill: Oh, I want to do that one of these days (tour Mauna Kea) and have a look at southern skies through telescopes. Have a great time in Hawaii! I'm going to guess and say I've probably had about a dozen Dairy Queen ChocoMalts, so far. ;~Don

Hi Ghost: Thanks for the well-wishes and admiration flows. Much appreciated! ;~Don
