Another Quckie Update - 090922

Hi all: Sorry to do this to you (and me!), but it's just another update. Oy vey, am I ever backlogging these blogs. Anyways, I'm in the town of Cody, WY, and just about to enter Yellowstone Nat'l Park. I've never been there before, so I'm really looking forward to seeing all that hot water and buffalos. I'd catch up the blogs, now, but the weather is excellent for going through right now, and I want to take advantage of that. I *just* missed getting snowed on, passing over the 9600' ASL pass through the Big Horn Mountains (whee!) Anyways, gotta git, while the gittin's good. I'll have a TON of updates for you, soon. Cheerios! (crunch, crunch) ;~Don

Yellowstone has practically no internet access except around the main lodges. Enjoy the time in Yellowstone. The basin around Old Faithful is really good. Check at the ranger station for geyser times. Mammoth travertine is good but a distance north.

We loved Yellowstone both times we were there. Both times they were doing road construction on the east entrance. In 1996 we entered that way and I was glad that traffic was only going 25 mph. In 2007 we left the park that way. Rough gravel surface going down a mountain road is not fun in a 22' motorhome! In '96 I was tired of snakes and hairpins and skipped Grand Tetons. What a shame. Didn't realize until '07 that the roads are rather flat and you look up at the mountains. Hope you can fit in the Grand Tetons. Maybe go into Idaho at the south end of GT and go north in Idaho to near the west entrance of Yellowstone to catch your road west. Enjoy! Tom Chadwick (Blue Ridge Parkway)

Hi Don,
We've flown into Jackson Hole airport a couple of times now to visit Yellowstone. It's the only airport located within the confines of a national park. It's a 3.5hr flight from Carson City and an incredible view coming in to land!

Howdy Don! I am learning from your experiences, as I will be departing for my own expedition on a Qnt in six days. I have placed a link to your blog on my blog. The ICE website has your journey and mine shown on their homepage. Thanks for sharing! - Steve Greene

Hi Rod: Yeah, no wi-fi that I could find, though I wasn't there long. Most of the campsites this time of year are closed - quite a challenge to find someplace safe from bears! But, I managed. Read all about it in the upcoming updates. Flying in sounds cool! ;-Don

Hi Tom C: Cool that you've been to Yellowstone a couple of times, now. A wonderful place for photographers! Wasn't able to fit in the Tetons, unfortunately. Oh, well - next time! ;-Don

Hi Steve G: Alright! Another Trice QNT owner! Hope you have a great trip, and glad my experiences are of some use to you in planning. Good luck, safe travels, and have FUN! (Just checked your blog - excellent!) ;-Don
