I stopped at a cafe to eat, and then went to Sausalito, looking for a path that my mapping program told me about to get into the military reservation, but that didn't work, so I just took the regular bike route from Sausalito towards the GG Bridge, and then rediscovered the tunnel road through to Ft. Barry, etc. It was a mess, but I finally did get up to the Marin Headlands with views of the GG Bridge and SF, and then went down and across the bridge, and met up with my former boss, who was the only one there on time to greet me (thanks, Bill!) I showed up at the South Tower of the GG Bridge at Ft. Point at 1:04pm, and none of my family or friends thought I would actually get there on time - that was pretty funny. Eventually, everyone who said they would show up, did, though it took until about 2pm! It's wonderful to be back. Now, I have 8.5 months of backlogged mail and phone messages to deal with (aiyeee!) No rest for the weary. Let's hook up some other time, though, eh what? Cheerios! (crunch, crunch) ;~Donobi_donkenobihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04019202392685910731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-779706520717729153.post-10648601158875323082009-11-13T22:04:51.077-08:002009-11-13T22:04:51.077-08:00I don't know if I can make then, but I'll ...I don't know if I can make then, but I'll give it a try if my schedule permits. The views from the Headlands are amazing! I always stop at the top of Hawk Hill and glory in the view (and catch my breath)! Congratulations on making it home tomorrow!John Howeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16233202005857364840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-779706520717729153.post-32044231038737956092009-11-13T13:38:18.305-08:002009-11-13T13:38:18.305-08:00Hi John: It looks like I'll probably be gettin...Hi John: It looks like I'll probably be getting to SF Saturday in the early-to-mid afternoon - say 2pm or 3pm. I'm going to include the Marin Headlands/Ft. Barry Military Reservation. I just love the views of SF from there. Hope my legs hold out for that much more - there's some pretty good hill work, there, I know. ;~Donobi_donkenobihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04019202392685910731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-779706520717729153.post-37197539395040728372009-11-11T21:04:48.296-08:002009-11-11T21:04:48.296-08:00I've recently done that stretch of Hwy 1 from ...I've recently done that stretch of Hwy 1 from Muir Beach over the hill to Tam Junction as part a ride back from Muir Woods. It is a pretty good climb all right! I think the worst part of it is that there is no shoulder! :-( I'm a slow hill climber, but the drivers were pretty considerate. My best guess is that your best time to ride that stretch would probably be early Sunday morning. We usually ride to Marin Sunday mornings, so it would be easy for me to join you then. I might not do the Hwy 1 part, but it would depend on the timing. It would be fun for sure!John Howeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16233202005857364840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-779706520717729153.post-35491495325647574612009-11-11T14:29:12.365-08:002009-11-11T14:29:12.365-08:00Hi John: Sure! I'm going to have to get from Hwy 1 over the Marin headlands, and that's a pretty steep climb. Maybe you could join me on the north side of the actual GG Bridge. I should hit SF this weekend - I'll post my closest estimate this Friday on the blog. Watch for it. ;-Donobi_donkenobihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04019202392685910731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-779706520717729153.post-51527138408237211932009-11-08T21:25:24.470-08:002009-11-08T21:25:24.470-08:00You are in the home stretch now! I'm still hoping to ride the ride last few miles with you if I'm not working or something boring like that (assuming that is OK with you, of course). Really enjoyed your last batch of posts tonight!John Howeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16233202005857364840noreply@blogger.com
